Fire Fire Fire - 21st Apr 2017

Its fire safety week so during this week the tamariki and kaiako (children and teachers) have been practising what we would do in a fire.

We have been listening to a book and singing a song about what we can do to keep ourselves safe if there is a fire. Some of the children took an immediate interest in this and became very interested in all aspects of FIRE and the fire trucks. We had children walking around talking about things being hot.

The role is called and each child alongside a staff member is encouraged to say yes or some noise to let the teachers know they are there when their name is called. By the end of the week the tamariki had a great understanding of what was expected of them, where our safe place was and what sound to listen to so we could all move to our safe place. Ka Pai everyone!!

FIRE DRILL THIS WEEK 5TH - 9TH MAY

It's fire safety week and the children have been learning about keeping themselves safe when in a fire. The children listened to a book about being fire safe and then listened to a song about what to do.

Some of the children took an immediate interest in this and became very interested in all aspects of FIRE and the fire trucks. We had children walking around talking about things being hot.

We listened as the children began to understand that to get out of a fire safely we need to have an escape plan. Mums and dads you can help us by talking to your children about being safe when there is a fire or when something is hot that they could hurt themselves on.

We have a rally point that we meet at, which is by the slide outside.
